MPG presents the Index methodology at a public seminar comparing the French integration laws to its European neighbours
The Migrant Integration Policy Index (MIPEX) will be launched in Paris, hosted by the Institut national des études démographiques (INED) and British Council France. MPG will explain the methodology of the Index policy comparisons, while Virginie Guiraudon will present the French results. A series of roundtables with European experts will link the MIPEX results to the issues at stake in various policy areas measured.
Managed by MPG and the British Council with a network of more than 20 partner organisations, the MIPEX aims to improve the quality of debate on the integration of migrants in Europe - an area riddled with misconceptions and fears - by providing the ground for fact-based arguments and European comparisons.
What is MIPEX?
MIPEX is a handy quick-reference guide to migrant integration policies in Europe. Using over 100 policy indicators it scores countries on six key dimensions of integration policy.
Policies are given a 1-3 score. A score of 3 signifies that a policy sets the most favourable conditions for migrant integration. Here best practice is defined by European Directives, Council of Europe Conventions and NGO proposals.
Alongside the policy indicators, the Index also provides a rich fact file of background information on migration for each country.
MIPEX is available as a paper publication and as an extensive on-line searchable database.
